[amaran Light Box] Assembly & Use

How to assemble, mount, and fold the amaran Light Box softbox (45x45, 60x90, 30x120), plus full specifications.

Thank you for purchasing the amaran Light Box series. The amaran Light Boxes deliver clean, straight reflections thanks to their rectangular design, making them ideal for bringing out fine, precise detail on subjects in product or portrait photography.

The Light Box 45×45's square shape is ideal for on-the-go work when paired with a compact COB light, while the Light Box 60×90 and Light Box 30×120 cast a longer, narrower source with greater flexibility for half and full-length portraits. All three share a one-snap, flat-pack design, so each Light Box can be set up and dismantled in seconds for efficient transport and storage.

What's in the Box

Each Light Box ships with the softbox itself plus a matched set of accessories. Contents are the same across sizes, with each part sized to its Light Box:

Compatibility

The amaran Light Box uses a Bowens mount speed ring and fits any Bowens-mount COB or point-source light fixture. Pair the Light Box 45×45 with a compact COB for run-and-gun shoots, or choose the 60×90 or 30×120 when you need a broader or more elongated source for portraits.

Installation

Preparation: Before installing the softbox, remove the protective cover from the speed ring. Ensure that the softbox and its accessories are in good condition.

  1. Remove the protective cover. Lift the protective cover away from the speed ring.
  2. Unfold the softbox. Pull up the expansion handle in the indicated direction to fully open the softbox, and make sure it is securely locked. Adjust the diffusion fabric and grid positions according to your lighting requirements to achieve the best soft-light effect.
  3. Connect to the light fixture. Align the assembled softbox with the light fixture interface. Securely attach the Bowens mount speed ring to the lamp head, ensuring the softbox is firmly fixed in place.

Disassembly

Releasing the support rods: When disassembling, use two fingers to press the two latches on the base of the softbox simultaneously toward the center. This releases the locking mechanism, allowing the softbox to automatically collapse and fold.
